​My relationship with photography began long before I ever picked up a professional camera.

As a little girl, I collected old photographs of my family. Some were Polaroids. Some were faded. Some featured family members I'd never had the opportunity to meet.

But I loved them all.

I'd sit and listen to the stories behind the people in those photographs and became fascinated by the fact that a single image could preserve someone's presence decades after the moment had passed.

I didn't know it then, but those photographs were teaching me something:

Our memories deserve somewhere to live.

Years later, photography unexpectedly found its way back to me.

What began as a creative outlet eventually became Shot By Shanté—and after photographing everything from portraits and families to events, I discovered the place where my heart truly belonged:

Weddings.

There's something extraordinary about being invited into one of the most meaningful days of someone's life.

The people you love most are gathered in one place.

Generations of family are together.

There is anticipation, joy, nervousness, laughter, tears and a thousand tiny moments happening simultaneously.

My job is to preserve them.

Not only beautifully, but honestly.

MY APPROACH

EDITORIAL IMAGERY. GENUINE CONNECTION.

My photography lives somewhere between editorial and documentary.

I'll step in when you need direction—adjusting a hand, finding beautiful light or creating a portrait that feels worthy of a magazine.

But I'll also know when not to interfere.

When your mother sees you dressed for the first time.

When your partner reaches for your hand beneath the table.

When your grandparents find each other on the dance floor.

Those moments don't need to be manufactured.

They simply need to be noticed.

And that's what I'm there to do.

FOR THIS GENERATION — AND THE NEXT.

One day the flowers will be gone.

The music will stop.

Your dress will be carefully tucked away.

But the photographs remain.

And years from now, someone who wasn't even there may hold one of your wedding photographs and ask:

"Who is this?"

And someone will tell them your story.

That's why I do this.
